Welcome to the
Intellectual Property Group Page
We are students in the School
of Information Management and Systems at the University
of California, Berkeley. Currently, our group is monitoring developments
in the areas of intellectual property law and freedom of access to public
information, with an emphasis on the United States.
As you will see, there's a lot happening here.
The legal system is scrambling to keep up with the changing technologies
and business practices. Part of the problem is that it is difficult to
reach a consensus on terms--for example, what information can be considered
"public"? What material is "intellectual property," protected by copyright
laws?
In the coming weeks, we plan to expand and organize
this site by topic. For the moment, click on the links below to visit each
