Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC)
This commission "fosters private sector leadership and
private-public sector cooperation in the development of information networks
andservices to advance global economic growth, education and quality of
life." The site provides an excellent background on general IT development
considerations such as Equal Access to Information, Intereoperability concerns,
and the growth of electronic commerce.

Telecommunication Union
"The ITU, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland is an
international organization within which governments and the private sector
coordinate global telecom networks and services." This hypertext link will
send you directly to a source page with dozens of links providing information
on the state of the global information infrastructure throughout the world
by a regional and/or country basis.
Pacific
Telecommunications Review
The Pacific Telecommunications Review is one of the Pacific
Telecommunications Council (PTC) on-line publications. PTC presents
the view of "an international, non-profit, non-governmental membership
organization for providers and users of communications services, policy-makers,
technologists, lawyers,scientists and academics." Its publications
provide a good discussion of IT public policy and give a plentiful amount
of information regarding current technical activities in the Pacific region.

Information
Society Project Office (ISPO)
The ISPO home page focuses on the IT activities of the
European Community (EC). It contains information on EC initiatives,
programs, policies, and G-7 projects. ISP jointly sponsored
the Global
Standards Conference in order to promote international discussion
on issues related to the development of a global information infrastructure.
